The Pickle Paddle
Website proposal
For Jimmy & Aaron Bryant · The Pickle Paddle

A website built to sign members, not just show hours.

Ideas, scope, design direction and pricing for Mississippi's newest pickleball facility — built around one promise you already own: where the weather is always perfect.

6-page site Booking + memberships 4–6 weeks
Courts at The Pickle Paddle
01 — The angle

Sell the climate. Keep the member.

Every outdoor court in the state closes for rain, heat and dark. Yours doesn't. That gets people in the door. What pays the lease is the second half: a site and a membership platform that turn a first visit into a card on file and a standing weekly habit.

365
playable days a year — the one number no outdoor court can match
2 courts
cushioned, quiet and climate controlled — scarcity is a feature, book ahead
3 taps
from Google result to a reserved court, on a phone, standing in the lot
$948
what one $79/month member is worth in a year — versus one $12 drop-in
Inside The Pickle Paddle
02 — The building

Details players feel in their knees and their ears.

These aren't fine print — they're the reasons somebody drives past a free outdoor court to play here. Each one gets its own line on the site.

Cushioned floor
Easy on knees and hips — but the ball still bounces true, like hard court.
Acoustic panels
Padded, sound-dampening walls. You can hold a conversation courtside.
High ceilings
Real lobs, no rafters. Full-height play indoors.
Climate controlled
72° in July, 72° in January, 72° when it's pouring.
Certified instructors
Credentialed coaching — the fastest path from curious to member.
Snacks & drinks
Concessions courtside — people stay longer, and stay is what builds habit.
03 — Ideas to pitch

Six things worth building.

IDEA 01

Book a court in 30 seconds

Your booking platform embedded and skinned to the brand, with a sticky "Book a court" button on every page and live availability for both courts on the homepage.

IDEA 02

Memberships that do the math for you

Drop-in vs. monthly vs. household, with the break-even spelled out — "pays for itself at 7 visits" — and a one-click join that ends with a card on file.

IDEA 03

Parties & private court rentals

Birthdays, church groups, team-building, bachelorette. A short inquiry form with date, headcount and package — quietly the highest-margin hour on the calendar.

IDEA 04

Lessons & clinics by skill level

"Never held a paddle" through 4.0+, each with a certified instructor, a price and a sign-up. Every clinic ends with a membership offer — that's the conversion engine.

IDEA 05

The open-play board

One honest weekly grid — who plays when, at what level — so nobody has to call. Ladies' night, morning dinks, competitive evenings. The page they'll bookmark.

IDEA 06

An email list you actually use

Every form feeds one list. Monthly send: open-play changes, new clinics, off-peak court specials. Cheapest way to refill a Tuesday afternoon.

04 — The retention engine

The website signs them up. The software keeps them.

Court Reserve, Playbypoint and PodPlay all do booking. The difference between a 3% and a 9% monthly churn rate is which of their retention features you actually switch on. Here's what I'd configure on day one.

AUTO-RENEW
Card on file, never re-decided
Monthly recurring billing with dunning — failed cards retry and text the member instead of silently lapsing. Most "churn" at small clubs is just expired Visas.
PRIORITY WINDOW
Members book 7 days out, guests 2
With only two courts, the booking window is the membership benefit. Scarcity makes the $79 obvious without discounting anything.
CHURN ALERTS
A text before they quit, not after
Attendance reporting flags anyone who hasn't played in 21 days. One automated "we've missed you — free clinic seat Thursday" saves most of them.
HOUSEHOLD PLANS
Two names on one membership
Couple and family tiers churn at a fraction of singles — cancelling means talking your spouse into it. Highest-retention product you can sell.
GUEST PASSES
Two free guests a month
Costs you an empty court slot; buys you a member's recruiting effort and a stream of first-timers who already have a friend here. Tracked automatically.
FIRST 30 DAYS
Onboarding that builds the habit
Automated sequence: welcome, pick your open-play night, meet your instructor, first guest pass. Members who play 4× in month one almost never cancel.
Member tab on concessions
Snacks and drinks charged to the account at a member price. Small spend, big stickiness.
Annual prepay, one month free
Cash up front and twelve months of guaranteed retention in a single click.
Founding 100
A locked rate and a name on the wall for the first hundred. Identity is the cheapest retention there is.
05 — Scope

Mobile-first — most of this traffic arrives on a phone, deciding where to play tonight.
